In Greene County district court Travis Austin Smith, 32, of Churdan was sentenced Feb. 7 to 20 days in jail with credit for time served after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. He was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge. The fine and surcharge were suspended. The court ruled Smith is unable to pay restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and court costs. Mychael Douglas Mueller, 34, of Fort Dodge was sentenced Feb. 2 to one year in jail with credit for time served after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of fraudulent practice- third degree. The remainder of the jail sentence was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge. Robert Charles Harvilicz, 44, of Jefferson was sentenced to five years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of dominion/control of firearm/offensive weapon by domestic abuse offender. He was also sentenced to five years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession with intent to deliver less than 50 kg of marijuana. The prison terms are consecutive; both were suspended. He was fined $1,025 with a $153.75 surcharge on each of those charges; the fines and surcharges were suspended. Harvilicz was sentenced to 90 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to a charge of domestic abuse assault- injury or mental illness, amended from domestic abuse assault- second offense. After completing the 90-day jail sentence, he is to remain in a residential correctional facility until maximum benefits are attained. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. He was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge and a $90 domestic abuse surcharge. Harvilicz was sentenced to one year in jail, consecutive to the other jail term. The jail term was suspended and he was placed on probation for three years to the Iowa Department of Correctional Services. He was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge on that charge. Sierra Kimberly Szaflarski, 33, of Jefferson was sentenced to two years in prison after she pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of methamphetamine, amended from possession of methamphetamine- second offense. The prison term was suspended and she was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Correctional Services for two years. She was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge; both were suspended. Szaflarski was sentenced to one year in jail after she pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana, amended from possession of marijuana- second offense. The terms of incarceration are concurrent; the jail term was also suspended. She was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge; both were suspended. She must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense. She must pay an amount not to exceed $500 restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees. The prison terms are consecutive; both were suspended and he was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Correctional Services for three years. He shall attend a residential correctional facility until maximum benefits are attained. He was fined $1,025 with a $153.75 surcharge on each count; the fine and surcharge were suspended on the marijuana charge. Charges of keeping premises or vehicle for controlled substance violation, and possession of marijuana with intent to deliver not more than 50 kg were dismissed. Court costs were $151.22. Kory Chris Schubert, 54, of Jefferson was sentenced to 180 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to one count of possession of marijuana. The jail term was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. Madison Meyers, 20 of Jefferson was sentenced to 180 days in jail, with all but two days suspended, after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated. She was placed on probation for one year to Boone/Greene County Probation. She may complete the Des Moines Area Community College 48-hour alcohol education program in lieu of the jail time. She must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense. Meyers was fined $1,250 with a $187.50 surcharge; one-half will be waived if she obtains a temporary restricted license. Williams, 47, of Jefferson, OWI- third offense and driving while license revoked; Jeremy Ernest Andrews, 35, of Jefferson, driving while license barred; Conrado Jaimes Diaz, 17, of Jefferson, assault with intent to inflict serious injury, and assault causing bodily injury or mental illness; Carlos Ricardo Gonzales, 48, of Dayton, driving while license barred; and Noel Matthew Bartusek, 30, of Des Moines, OWI- third offense. A trial date of March 5 was sent for Gonnelly. Trial dates of April 9 were set for all other defendants.
